Creative songwriting workshop

Creative Songwriting Workshop: Write Your Own Chartist Song!

Thursday 5 November, 4–6pm | Newport Rising Hub, NP20 1JN | Ages 8–13 | Pay what you can

In 1839 the Chartists marched on Newport to demand a voice, and their story has been inspiring songs ever since. Now it’s your turn.

In this fun, hands-on two-hour workshop, young people aged 8–13 will find their own voice and turn it into a song.

Together we’ll explore:

• Lyrics and storytelling: turning big ideas about fairness, freedom and having your say into words that hit home

• Melodies and catchy hooks: finding a tune that sticks in everyone’s head

• Performance and recording: singing it out loud and capturing it on the day
