Wanted - Watchdogs for Democracy!

At 1000 on Sunday 26 October 2025, 12 lucky dogs and their humans will set off from Newport Rising Hub on their first guided walk of Newport’s Chartist Trails.

To qualify as a Watchdog for Democracy you must be willing to participate in at least two group walks a year. Your task will be to monitor the upkeep of the roundels and plaques that demarcate the routes. We also hope you will engage other dog-walkers in conversations about Newport’s Chartist Heritage.

Each team, comprising a dog and its humans, will receive a generous Welcome Pack, sponsored by Monmouthshire Building Society Charitable Foundation, which will include a distinctive bandana for your dog to wear while on duty. Book now - only 12 places available!

We anticipate that the event will take 2 - 2.5 hours.
