The Old Oak | Film Screening

The Old Oak – Film Screening & Discussion

Join us at the Newport Rising Hub for a special screening of Ken Loach’s The Old Oak, followed by a panel discussion exploring the themes raised by the film.

Set in a former mining community in the North East of England, The Old Oak is a powerful story about community, division, solidarity and what happens when people facing very different struggles are brought together.

Following the screening, our panel will discuss the film and the wider questions it raises about working-class communities, migration, solidarity and the forces that can bring people together or drive them apart.
